Grocery Finds (Walmart Edition)
True confession, Walmart is not my favorite place but I embraced the shopping experience to show they do offer some great products. I was actually surprised at the selection of healthy products they do offer. They now offer grocery pick up so that may change my mind about doing more of our shopping here. I picked up some new things for us to try including some new Kind Kids bars for Lollie. Our family does eat gluten free so most of the products I featured are gluten free with the exception of Dave’s Killer Bread. The produce department at our local Walmart has really improved, great selection of organic produce. There were many more products I could have featured but here is my list from my recent trip.
Organic brown basmati rice
Gluten free penne pasta
Chickpea pasta, great source of fiber and protein
Low sugar pasta sauce
Low sugar marinara sauce
Frozen chicken. Good to keep on hand for easy protein option.
Maple almond butter
Raw almond butter
Favorite peanut butter, simple ingredient list of just peanuts
Simple ingredient mayo
Large variety of Dave’s Killer Bread
Love these gluten free chicken tenders to keep in the freezer for a quick protein to add to a salad
Wild caught salmon
Wild caught grouper
These would be great to have on hand for an easy lunch or snack
Great little snack box with veggies and nuts
Walmart carries a wide variety of GT’s Synergy Kombucha
Large selection of organic frozen produce. Love these for smoothies
While I am a big proponent of eating food vs protein powders and supplements but these are great for a quick breakfast on the run, still a little high in sugar but some of that is from the lactose in the milk
Large selection of riced veggies
These are great for smoothies too, my daughter’s favorite smoothie is sweet potato, almond butter and banana
We love these baked fries with burgers or as an easy side dish
Great for cooking, even those who have trouble tolerating dairy can usually tolerate ghee
We buy pumpkin year around. I use it for baking adding to energy balls etc
Pitted dates are a stable to use in my pumpkin energy balls and to add sweetness to smoothies
I haven’t tried this granola yet but it is low in sugar and high in protein
Kind minis are perfect little sweet treat or great for those times when lunch is in a hour but you need a small snack
These fruit leathers are full of real fruit and chia seeds
New Epic bars, I haven’t tried these but they look similar to RX bars
Lemon Epic Bar
New kids Kind bars. Anything with peanut butter and chocolate chips is a winner in our house. These are lower in sugar than your typical “chewy” granola bars.
New flavor of Rx Kids bar and it is so delicious, one of my daughters favorite snacks. Packed with 7g of protein.
Love having prepped popcorn on hand for snacking
These crackers are great with hummus for a quick snack or to scoop tuna or chicken salad
Great crunchy sweet potato snack crisps. Could spread with peanut butter or be used to dip hummus or guacamole.
We like to freeze these greek yogurt tubes for a “popsicle” treat
Grass fed butter
Spreadable grass fed butter
Walmart is the only place I’ve seen plain almond milk yogurt
Favorite siggis yogurt. I prefer the 4% milk vs the fat free yogurt so creamy.
Kefir is like a drinkable yogurt. Filled with probiotics. Great to use as liquid in smoothies.
Choosing a plain yogurt allows you to control the sugar content. I like thawing frozen berries and the juice helps to sweeten the yogurt without the extra sugar
Whole grain gluten free crackers. I like have these with my salads for some crunch.
Large variety of Hope hummus
Whips are cheese crisps that can be added to salads.
Qunioa is a great high protein grain that cooks quickly. Love it in taco bowls.
Nitrate free bacon
Hemp seeds are a nutritional power house can be added to oatmeal, smoothies, salads & on top of toast
Chia seeds are a great source of fiber. Great to use as thickener in puddings.
Almond flour can be used in baking or as a breading for proteins
